First Off-road Experience!

Kevin bought a new car last week. The brand new 2013 Subaru Forester Premium. So what did we do the first weekend? Took it offroading to see what it could handle. And we did not even come close to touching it's limit.

We started our trip in Tonto National Forest near Needle Rock. There is a small part of Verde River at the base of the Rock that has a beach and beach parking. They have recently added rails that make it impossible to drive up close to the river, so we had to turn around and find small little beaten paths to turn on. There are some videos of what we accomplished, below. Unfortunately, a lot of the trails came to dead ends less than a quarter mile in so we really did not get to do too much with it. But there were some serious bumps, dips, and tight spots where I had to get out and direct.

I only had a heart attack once.

After we gave up near Needle Rock, we headed to another location known for it's ATV trails. But once we got there, we saw it was really only for ATVs. It had super steep and skinny slopes which we might have been able to go up, but we did not want to end up face to face with a kid in a cart. So instead we headed down to Bartlett lake just to see what it was like.

As I'm writing this, Kevin is looking up trail for next weekend's adventure. Hopefully we will find one that doesn't have as many dead ends and we can actually push this Subaru to it's max. And so there are some interesting stories to share...

More later!
